Cyril Francis Napp was a long-time abbot of an Augustinian monastery in Brno, a cultural and political figure, and a member of the Moravian Provincial Assembly. He participated in political struggles for the improvement of the position of the Czech-speaking population. He participated in most cultural and patriotic undertakings and positively influenced many fields such as agriculture, biological research, national economy, general and technical education. During his tenure as abbot, the monastery also flourished in the scientific and cultural fields. He contributed to the professional education and scientific growth of many talented monastic personalities – Tomáš Bratranek, Gregor Mendel, Pavel Křížkovský and Matouš Klácel.
